How do I know what I'm getting is genuine?

At Go Floor It we'd never sell a product that is under par and that's why we pride ourselves on only selling the brands that we know are of excellent quality.

Most of our product ranges have warranty's offered with them, especially vinyl tiles and we are certified distributors of all brands that we sell on our website.

Some manufacturers will package their flooring in plain boxes as they sell their products worldwide but we can assure you that, even though there is no name on the box, the product is real and genuine.

If you have any queries about the products, give us a call or send us a quick email.

I've placed my order; what happens next?

After your order has been received, you will get a confirmation email which you will need to check thoroughly in case a mistake has been made. If there are any mistakes on the order, please contact us immediately so the order gets processed correctly.

Within 24 hours of your order being placed you will receive an email letting you know the soonest delivery date available for your order. If the date is unsuitable you will need to contact us by phone or email and let us know a date that is suitable in which somebody will be at home to accept the delivery. Once a date has been arranged, we will schedule the delivery and your goods will arrive on the date agreed between 9am - 6pm.

If you need to change or add anything to the order please send us an email or contact us by phone at least 48 hours before delivery is due to ensure we can alter your order without additional charges being applied.

When will my flooring be delivered?

The majority of the orders that we receive are delivered within 5 working days. Only in circumstances when there is no stock or there is a long lead time will delivery take any longer than 7 working days and you will always receive a call or email from our customer services team to inform you of this if such situation arises.

How will my order be delivered?

We use two couriers to deliver all orders: one for small orders and one for large orders.

If your order is under 4 boxes of flooring, unless the product is substantial in weight, your delivery will be made by a parcel courier and this will be between 9am - 6pm on the date arranged with the despatch team. The parcels will be safely wrapped in cardboard and strapped up so nothing escapes and no damage is done during transit. If nobody is at home when the delivery is attempted they will leave a card with details on to rearrange the date free of charge.
If your order is 4 boxes or more, it will go with a pallet service which is between 9am - 5pm. It is essential that somebody is at home to receive this type of delivery as pallets will not be left without a signature. If the delivery is missed there is a redelivery charge payable by the customer. The pallet will be safely wrapped and strapped so nothing escapes during transit and no damage is done during transit.

What happens on the day of delivery?

If you have ordered less than 4 packs of flooring, your delivery will be with a parcel courier between the hours of 9am - 6pm. On the day of delivery you will need to ensure that somebody is at home during these times - if nobody will be at home, you can leave a note that is visible to the driver instructing them to leave the parcels with a neighbour or in a safe place. The driver will take the note as proof of delivery.

If your order is over 4 packs of flooring, your delivery will be on a pallet service between the hours of 9am - 5pm. On the day of delivery we can get an estimated time of arrival from the couriers - if you would like an ETA please send us an email or give us a call at around 9am. This type of delivery requires a signature in order for the goods to be left so it is essential that somebody is at home to receive the goods. We are able to request the driver to call you up to 1 hour before the delivery is due if this helps with somebody being available to take the delivery - please note this on your order when placing it or send us an email afterwards.

When your delivery arrives please inspect the goods for any damage before signing anything. If there is any damage, please make a note of it on the drivers paperwork so we are able to investigate further and, if necessary, send out replacements.

What do I do if I change my mind and want to cancel my order?

If you change your mind and would like to cancel your order all you have to do is send us an email and let us know. Please include your name, order number and postcode in the email so we can locate the correct order.

As long as your order has not been despatched, it's a quick and easy process. If your order has been despatched and is on it's way to you, please let us know you'd like to cancel and we will let you know what needs to happen next based on the individual situation.

After your order has been cancelled your payment will be refunded to the original card that you used to pay within 2-4 working days. You will receive confirmation of the cancellation and refund by email shortly after it has been actioned.

What if my flooring arrives damaged or there's something missing?

When your flooring arrives with you, please make sure that you check it over for any damage or missing items.

If you find damage to your flooring upon delivery please follow these instructions:

  • Note down all damage on the drivers paperwork
  • Take pictures of the damage before taking off any packaging and then again after taking the packaging off
  • Call us with a full explanation of the damage and we will give you the email address to send the pictures to

We will then get in contact with our couriers to report the damage and resolve the issue as soon as possible for you. If the item is a stock line we can provide replacements straight away and even with goods that are special order we will try our best to resolve the problem within a couple of days.

If there are missing items from your delivery please also follow the above instructions but pictures are not necessary unless it looks like something has fallen off of the delivery or been lost. Let us know immediately so we can resolve the issue and get the goods out to you as quickly as possible.

What is your returns policy?

We run a standard 7 working day returns policy, starting from the day after you receive the goods.

If you would like to return any part of your order you need to inform us, either by email or telephone, within 7 working days of you taking delivery. If your request falls outside of this time frame we would be unable to accept the goods back as a return.

All returns are at your own expense; you would need to get the goods back to us at your own cost either by bringing them back to our main warehouse or sending them via a courier. The goods will need to be adequately packaged to avoid any damage in transit and have a valid returns document with them.
After we receive the goods and are happy that they are in perfect condition, we will then issue your refund. We will confirm the amount being refunded back to you prior to the return being processed.

If we receive the goods back they are not in perfect condition the delivery will be refused and the goods will be sent back to the sender. We will always keep you up to date on the returns process so will alert you if the goods have been declined.

If a return is made that has not been agreed by both parties, the goods will be declined and they will be sent back to the sender.

Please note: Returns are not accepted on bespoke products cut specifically to the size you require or made to your individual specifications.

Are vinyl tiles water resistant?

All vinyl tiles that are correctly fitted are resistant to spillages which make them great for kitchens and bathrooms but puddles should not be left on the flooring for extended periods of time.

Do you offer samples of vinyl tiles?

We most certainly do offer samples of all vinyl tiles and they are free!

Simply find the products that you like (a maximum of 6!), add the samples to your basket and fill in your details of where they need to be sent to.

Are my vinyl tiles guaranteed?

Most manufacturers offer a guarantee including Karndean, Polyflor & Cavalio.

All ranges of flooring will have different guarantees - the details of the length and type of guarantee available for the products are on each page within the 'product description' box so if you're unsure, the information is all there or send us an email.

What is a wear layer?

A wear layer is the top coating on the flooring to protect it from scuffs, scratches and stains. It is usually measure in millimetres and can be found in the description of every product.

Is there anything I need to do prior to laying vinyl tiles?

Prior to laying vinyl tiles, products must be acclimatised to room temperature. Remove material from packaging, spread out and allow to condition in the room where installation is to take place at a constant temperature of 18°C - 26°C for a period of 24 hours prior to installation. This temperature should be maintained during installation and for a 24 hour period after installation.

What is Looselay and how do I fit it?

Looselay is a product that is designed to be laid without the need for adhesives. It can be laid in almost any situation and as there is no adhesive involved, it is easy to change a plank if any damage occurs.

If the looselay is being butted up against all the walls in a room and it is tightly fitted, there will be no need for adhesive and the flooring should not move.
If the flooring is running through two rooms or it is impractical to butt all of the edges of the flooring up to the walls, you can use pressure sensitive adhesive to help hold the flooring in place. You will need to roller the adhesive on around the edge of the room avoiding doorways, rather than using a trowel, to create a tackifier - this means that you will still be able to easily lift individual planks and the flooring will stay in place without moving when there is traffic through the room.

Can vinyl tiles be laid over underfloor heating?

Vinyl tiles can be laid over underfloor heating but the manufacturers guide should always be checked.

Standard guidelines are 27º max temperature and installation over underfloor heating should be carried out by a professional that has experience of how to introduce the heat to the flooring.

How do I install vinyl flooring?

Fitting dos and don’ts:

The final appearance and performance of your flooring will depending on the quality and preparation of the sub-floor upon which it is laid:

  • Sub-floor surface must be smooth, clean, level, dry and free from dust and small particles, with a damp proof membrane incorporated in solid ground floor situations
  • All installations over 16m2 need to be fully adhered
  • Floorboards should be overlaid with resin bonded plywood or flooring grade hardboard sheets and fixed at 100mm centres with ruing shank nails
  • Your new cushioned flooring must not be laid over a timber subfloor that has been treated with a wood preservative, asphalt floors, vinyl or thermoplastic tiles. These surfaces should either be fully removed or covered with a minimum of 3mm latex underlayment to prevent migration staining of the sheet above.
  • Certain rubbers, which contain anti-oxidants can permanently stain your flooring. Some common causes of staining can be rubber backed mats and rugs. Any staining resulting from contact with these products is not a manufacturing fault,
  • We recommend that your flooring be fixed in doorways and where they are heavy domestic appliances or seams, these areas are to be fixed with an approved acrylic adhesive or PMR double sided tape.
  • Prior to laying vinyl flooring, products must be acclimatised to room temperature. Remove material from packaging, spread out and allow to condition in the room where installation is to take place at a constant temperature of 18°C - 26°C for a period of 24 hours prior to installation. This temperature should be maintained during installation and for a 24 hour period after installation.

How do I keep vinyl flooring looking great?

A regular cleaning and maintenance programme will help to ensure your new flooring keeps its appearance

  • Regularly sweep your flooring with a soft broom to remove dirt and grit to prevent scratches etc.
  • Wash using only a mild detergent and rinse with clean water
  • Your flooring can be kept looking as new with periodical application of a proprietary acrylic polish
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or strong detergents as they may cause damage and discolouration
  • The use of a ‘beater bar’ vacuum cleaner is not recommended as surface damage may result.

Is laminate flooring water resistant?

Laminate flooring has a surface that is resistant to spillages but if liquid is left on the flooring for an extended period of time, it may seep between the boards and cause the planks to swell and warp.

It is highly recommended that if any spillages do occur, that you clean them up immediately with a dry cloth or mop and make sure that the in between of the planks are dry.

If you are considering putting laminate in a bathroom, there are ranges available within Quickstep that are suitable for this type of installation such as Impressive and Impressive Ultra.

Do you offer samples of laminate flooring?

Unfortunately we cannot offer laminate flooring samples but they are available through the manufacturers websites. If you are looking for a specific samples, please send us an email and we can help you locate the right place to source them from.

Where can laminate be installed?

Laminate can be installed in almost any situation - most ranges are spill resistant and will not warp as long as the spillage is cleaned up immediately and almost all laminates are moisture resistant making it suitable for kitchen installations.

If you are looking for a bathroom flooring, you may need to consider laminate that is specifically designed for this purpose such as Quickstep Impressive and Impressive Ultra.

Can laminate flooring be laid over underfloor heating?

In general, laminate flooring is suitable to be laid over underfloor heating but you will always need to look out for the advice on the product pages to ensure you are picking a product which is suitable.

Manufacturers advise to use a compatible underlay. Thinner underlays are usually best to not impact the performance of the underfloor heating system.

You may need to refer to your underfloor heating system guidebook or supplier to check that the system is suitable to have laminate laid over it.

What does bevelled edge mean?

If a flooring has a bevelled edge it will have a v-groove at the edge of each plank to create a more traditional, country feel. It accentuates each plank and can hide sub floor irregularities if there is a difference in height.

As well as bevelled edges, some flooring has a 'micro-bevel' which is a more subtle v-groove to still hide slight changes in height underneath the flooring and to have a cleaner, more precise feel with a touch of the traditional floorboard style.

Gofloorit guide to Durable Laminate Floors

Is engineered wood flooring real wood?

Yes it is. It consists of layers of different types of wood to make a strong and durable flooring.
Most commonly there will be a backing layer made of pine, a middle stabilising layer made of pine or spruce and the top, real wood veneer with a scratch resistant finish.

Is engineered wood flooring water resistant?

As with most floor coverings, the top surface of the flooring is water resistant but any spillage must be mopped up immediately as the water may seep between the boards, get under the finish and discolour the wood.

Is engineered wood flooring scratch resistant?

Engineered wood flooring has a tough finish so everyday wear and tear should not present many scratches that will be visible. Occasionally moving heavy items across the flooring may cause deep scratches but those can be repaired using a hot wax repair kit.

Where can I install wood flooring?

Wood flooring is suitable for almost any situation. Kitchen installations are perfectly fine as the flooring is moisture resistant but spillages must be cleaned up immediately.

Is wood flooring suitable over underfloor heating?

Most engineered wood floorings are suitable over underfloor heating although we'd advise to check in the manufacturers guide for the correct maximum temperature.
Most solid wood floorings are not able to go over underfloor heating - again this needs to be checked with the manufacturer prior to installation.

Is there anything that I need to do before laying wood flooring?

Prior to installation of wood flooring make sure that the planks are fully acclimatised for 24-48 hours in a constant temperature of 18ºc - 26ºc. This needs to be maintained whilst acclimatising, fitting and for 24 hours after. Please leave an expansion gap whilst fitting wood flooring to ensure there is space for the flooring to settle.

How do I look after my wood flooring?

Firstly, please read the manufacturers guide for specific maintenance regimes.

- Have a door mat to remove dirt, stones and grit from shoes to avoid scratches
- Sweep or vacuum floor on a regular basis
- Occasionally clean with specifically designed cleaner to remove finer dirt and dust
- Clean up spillages immediately.
